A chatbot error canceled a ship boarding operation at the last minute
According to CNN on September 18, the US military was preparing to board a Chinese vessel in the Middle East this spring after intelligence said it carried nuclear weapons-related components. Armed personnel were ready and aircraft were in the air. Just before the operation officials looked into the report and found that an analyst at special operations command had fed the intelligence into a chatbot, which had misidentified the cargo. The report was entirely false.
