Oracle apps are coming to ChatGPT, and Oracle’s cloud is adding Google TPUs, OpenAI’s Jalapeño chip and Cerebras hardware

OpenAI announced an expanded partnership with Oracle on October 27, during Oracle AI World in Las Vegas. Oracle is building Oracle AI Workspace to bring data from its finance, procurement and planning applications into ChatGPT. Employees will describe a task and complete approved workflows within company permissions. Oracle also announced AI Security Mesh, which uses OpenAI cyber models to find and fix vulnerabilities, and App Composer for building apps with Codex. A small business bundle combines ChatGPT Business, Codex and recurring cloud credits. Per OpenAI, Oracle itself has 130,000 active ChatGPT users and more than 95,000 active Codex users.

Oracle also added accelerators to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. In a joint announcement with Google, OCI becomes the first hyperscale cloud outside Google to offer Google TPUs, available in 2027 and ramping over several years. Cerebras inference hardware also arrives in 2027. Quartz, citing Bloomberg, said Oracle did not disclose how much it will deploy. CNBC reported that OpenAI’s Jalapeño chip will run on OCI as well. Yahoo Finance said SambaNova’s SN50 processor and Nvidia’s Vera Rubin NVL72 systems are coming too.

OCI president Mahesh Thiagarajan told CNBC the move is not a pivot from Nvidia, whose chips he called “the best, most fungible.” He also said his team watched OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra train at Oracle’s Stargate campus in Abilene, Texas. Oracle shares rose nearly 5% after the announcements, and Cerebras gained about 8% to 10%. According to CNBC, Oracle stock is still down more than 30% this year.
