Nvidia’s share of China’s data center AI chip market fell to 34% in the first half of 2026 as Huawei reached 28%, IDC data shows
Nvidia’s share of China’s data center AI accelerator market fell to 34% by unit shipments in the first half of 2026, according to an IDC report cited by Reuters on October 13. Nvidia shipped 678,000 accelerators from January to June, down 44% from a year earlier. Huawei’s shipments rose to 572,000 from more than 300,000 in the same period last year, giving it a 28% share. Alibaba’s chip unit T-Head held 7%, Cambricon 5%, Baidu’s Kunlunxin 4% and Hygon 3%.
Total shipments reached 2.008 million units. GPU shipments fell 26% to 991,000, while other AI accelerators rose nearly 80% to 1.016 million, overtaking GPUs by volume. IDC did not specify which Nvidia products made up the 34% share. The report as cited did not give prior-period shares; a separate IDC report cited by Reuters in April put Nvidia at 55% of roughly 4 million units shipped in China in full-year 2025.
