The UN moved its data portal onto Google infrastructure
The new UN System Data Commons is built on Google’s open source Data Commons platform and replaces the old UNData portal: statistics can now be queried in natural language and the platform supports the Model Context Protocol. Twenty-six UN entities have committed, with data from about twenty live at launch. The timing says something: a UNICEF benchmark of six language models on global development indicators, across more than 133,000 responses, came out at an average accuracy of just 21.2%.
