SK Hynix is in talks with Intel to make memory chips in the US for the first time
According to sources speaking to Reuters, one option would have SK Hynix lease space at Intel’s planned Ohio plant, and a joint venture including cloud providers is also on the table. A deal would be a major win for Intel, which has been hunting marquee customers for its foundry business. Two caveats: SK Hynix wrote in its own newsroom that no plans have been confirmed regarding the talks, and sensitive technologies such as HBM could run into objections from the South Korean government.
