Image generation company Ideogram introduced Ideogram Vector, its first vector model, on October 22. According to the company’s post on X, the model generates clean, editable SVG files with smooth gradients and sharp typography from a text prompt. It can also turn an existing image into a detailed, scalable vector. The model page lists logos, print designs and illustrations as the main use cases. Per the page, colors can be adjusted to match a brand and individual shapes can be refined in a vector editor.
The model is live in the Ideogram app and through the API, which offers two endpoints: generate, for text to SVG, and vectorize, for converting images. Per the documentation, the vectorizer accepts JPEG, PNG or WEBP files of up to 50 MB. It has a “simple” mode that uses fewer shapes, a “detailed” mode that preserves fine detail, and an “auto” mode. The generate endpoint takes optional reference images plus quality and aspect ratio settings.
The model page lists prices per SVG. Text to vector costs $0.13 at low quality, $0.16 at medium and $0.20 at high. High quality with reference images costs $0.32, and image to vector costs $0.10 per image. Ideogram has not published benchmarks comparing the model with rivals. Competitors such as Recraft already offered text to vector generation.
