Starting October 9, free Gemini users will only have access to the lightest model
According to a Gemini support page Google updated this week, starting October 9 users without a paid Google AI subscription will only be able to use Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite in the Gemini app, losing access to Gemini 3.6 Flash and 3.1 Pro. Subscribers to AI Plus, which costs $4.99 a month, will be limited to Flash-Lite and Flash and lose Pro, with the timing sent by email. AI Pro and Ultra subscribers keep all three models, and AI Pro gains Deep Think. Usage limits are based on compute and refresh every 5 hours. 9to5Google was the first to report the change.
