Critical thinking weakens when AI substitutes for thinking

Published: 4 sourcesTürkçe

A study in Nature’s Humanities and Social Sciences Communications examined the relationship between perceived AI intelligence and critical thinking among university students. The finding is not one-directional: students who see the tools as more intelligent engage with them in ways associated with stronger critical thinking. Where the wider literature converges is this: critical thinking erodes when AI substitutes for human reasoning and use is unguided. What matters is not the tool but how it is used.
