Four labs were sued for antitrust over the slowdown call
Four consumers sued Anthropic, OpenAI, SpaceXAI and Google in federal court in San Francisco on September 18, alleging they violated the Sherman Act by agreeing among themselves on how fast their models would improve. The basis is Dario Amodei’s essay of September 12 and, according to the complaint, the endorsements that followed within about an hour. The plaintiffs do not question any single lab choosing caution on its own; what they challenge is swapping individual responsibility for a collective restraint among competitors.
