Naive AI reached a $1.42 billion valuation before shipping a single model
This story was updated after publication (Oct. 9, 2026). Details
According to The Information, the Beijing company raised $400 million across three rounds; it has not confirmed the figures. Tencent, IDG Capital and HSG are among the investors. Dai Jifeng, from Tsinghua, founded it in February 2026. None of the money goes to pre-training from scratch: the company refines existing open-weight models. Its first open-weight release is expected this month, which means the valuation has outrun the release calendar.
