Altman clarified: pacing does not mean stopping, and Amodei said the same thing

Altman said on Monday that “pacing does not mean stopping.” Amodei had written much the same in his essay: the point is not to halt model training or technical progress, but for companies to leave enough time for alignment and for third parties to be able to verify it.
