The Information: Anthropic’s employee donation-matching cost topped $660 million in six months and could reach billions after the IPO
According to The Information, citing figures Anthropic shared with prospective IPO investors, the company booked more than $660 million in expenses to match employees’ charitable donations in the six months from October 2025 to March 2026. The expense is non-cash: the match is paid in company stock. The first quarter of 2026 alone accounted for about $125 million. The charge is expected to climb into the billions after the IPO, diluting other shareholders. The seven co-founders, who have each pledged to give away 80% of their wealth, are not eligible for the match.
