Two developers wrote a Linux GPU driver for Apple M4 from scratch in a month with Codex

Cody Ho and Niklas Sheth reverse-engineered the hardware under a hypervisor to build an OpenGL ES 3.0 compliant driver, with Codex doing most of the systematic debugging. The A18 Pro hardware interface has 1.5 times more structures and twice as many pointers as M1 and M2. The driver reaches 212 frames per second in Minecraft.
