AWS adds Chinese lab Z.ai’s GLM 5.3 model to Amazon Bedrock
Amazon Web Services added GLM 5.3, built by Beijing-based Z.ai (formerly Zhipu AI), to Amazon Bedrock on October 5. AWS describes it as a 753-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model with about 40 billion parameters active per token, a 1 million token context window and a focus on coding and long-running agent tasks. Access is limited for now to “eligible enterprise customers.” Z.ai released the open-weight model in August; the US government’s CAISI called it the most cyber-capable open-weight model to date, though behind leading US models. Zhipu has been on the US Entity List since January 2025.
