Alibaba unveiled its Zhenwu V900 chip and plans models of 5 to 10 trillion parameters
CEO Eddie Wu announced the plan at the Apsara conference in Hangzhou; the company’s current flagship Qwen model runs at roughly 2.4 trillion parameters. Qwen 4 is training, with the 5-to-10 trillion scale expected in the Qwen 4.5 and Qwen 5 series. The Zhenwu V900, built by its T-Head unit, delivers three times the processing power of its predecessor the M890 and supports clusters of up to 500,000 units. The chip carries 216GB of high-bandwidth memory and 1.2 terabytes per second of inter-chip bandwidth, with mass production in the first quarter of 2027.
