Password manager 1Password announced the 1Password for Agents platform for personal AI agents on October 22. According to the company’s blog post, when an agent reaches a sign-in page, it requests the matching credential from the user’s vault. The user approves or denies the request on their own device. If approved, 1Password fills the password or one-time code directly into the sign-in form, and the agent only sees that access was granted. The company says the agent verifies its identity to 1Password with a unique digital key and cannot reach the rest of the vault.

Per the blog post, integrations for Meta’s Muse agent are available on iOS, Android and the web. For SpaceXSI’s Grok Bot, the blog post says integrations are available, while the product page says they are rolling out over the coming days. Anthropic’s Claude Duet, OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work and dots, and Town’s Townie are coming soon. Integrations with companies including Perplexity, Browserbase, Browser Use and Ramp are also planned.

The platform is included at no additional cost for Individual and Family accounts on 1Password.com. Accounts on 1Password.eu and 1Password.ca are not currently supported. The feature is optional, and agents cannot touch the vault unless the user connects one. The company’s FAQ notes that once signed in, an agent may be able to see information or take actions within the account, and that safeguards vary by integration.
