Google, OpenAI and Anthropic are setting up a joint AI standards body
According to The Information, the three companies approached Sriram Krishnan, the former White House AI adviser, about leading a self-regulator provisionally called the Frontier AI Standards Agency. It would back third parties that test models before release, define incident reporting rules and set qualifications for independent auditors. The model is FINRA, Wall Street’s self-regulator. The criticism: the three could use it to box out open-source developers and rivals.
