San Francisco-based General Compute announced a $100 million Series A on October 27. Blackbird Ventures and Abstract Ventures co-led the round, with participation from Fuse Venture Partners and Village Global. According to TechCrunch, the company is now valued at **$800 million post-money**, up from $60 million after a May seed round. TechCrunch reports that a deal with a large customer worth $100 million in annual recurring revenue paved the way for the raise.

The company says it is building an inference cloud for ultra-fast tokens. It finances, deploys and operates GPUs alongside purpose-built inference chips from Cerebras, SambaNova and Positron AI. To house them, it rents space in other companies' data centers and converts former bitcoin-mining sites. Customers get dedicated bare metal, meaning raw servers with no software layered on top, or a guaranteed tokens-per-second service level. The company says the new round supports that buildout, which also relies on an earlier $400 million debt facility from Upper90. First major deployments go live in Q1 2027, with more than 50 megawatts of capacity in the pipeline.

The announcement lands in a rough week for neoclouds. CoreWeave's stock hit a 12-month low, and Elon Musk predicted that most of the more than 200 neoclouds will die or consolidate. Co-founder and CEO Finn Puklowski told TechCrunch that fears of a chip-led collapse are "massively overstated." He expects to deploy 75 megawatts of capacity in 2027 and says raising capital, both debt and equity, will be "a full-time job" for him.
