### Apple announces an AI-heavy update to Creator Studio

On October 27, Apple announced a broad update to Creator Studio, the subscription it launched in January. According to 9to5Mac, the news came the same day as new iMacs and a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip. At the center of the update is an intelligent assistant for Keynote, Pages and Numbers. Apple says the assistant is **built on Apple models and OpenAI**.

Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple's senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud, called it "our most exciting update since the launch of Apple Creator Studio." He said the assistants in Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages and Numbers "are going to change the game for how people interact with and learn to use these apps."

### The assistant works from the open document's context

According to Apple, the assistant understands document context and helps users get work done without leaving the app. In Keynote, it helps design, animate and refine presentations. In Pages, it drafts, restructures and fine-tunes written content. In Numbers, it calculates, visualizes and organizes data, recommends chart types with a one-tap preview and builds custom tables using world knowledge.

The assistants will be in beta and available **in U.S. English only**. They require an Apple Intelligence-capable device running iOS 27, iPadOS 27 or macOS 27. Apple did not say which OpenAI model is used or where requests are processed.

### MCP lets outside AI agents work in documents

Keynote, Pages and Numbers are also getting Model Context Protocol (MCP) support. MCP is an open protocol that gives AI agents a standard way to connect to outside tools and data. Apple says it lets **external AI agents and tools** read content, make edits and run automated actions directly in the three apps. MCP support requires macOS 27 or later.

Jesse Bunch, whom Daring Fireball identifies as Apple's engineering manager for productivity apps, wrote on X that MCP lets users bring their own agent. Keynote will also support the Keynote Interchange Format (.keyx), an open, JSON-based bundle format. Apple says it is designed to be readable by external tools, developer workflows and AI agents. Bunch also announced a Python library for creating Keynote documents programmatically on any platform. Daring Fireball's John Gruber noted that the library did not appear to be out yet.

### Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro get generative tools too

Logic Pro for Mac gets its own intelligent assistant. Apple says it runs on a combination of Apple-built and third-party models. It can start a new song, set up a vocal track from a single prompt, or help refine an active project. Stem Splitter can now separate drum parts, and a redesigned Browser uses on-device audio analysis to classify and tag added sounds automatically.

In Pixelmator Pro, the new Generate Fill tool lets users circle an area of an image and describe the change they want. Apple says it matches the lighting, perspective and texture of the surroundings, while built-in Super Resolution keeps the generated content sharp at any size. Final Cut Pro for Mac also gets built-in **MotionVFX** effects, transitions and templates.

### OpenAI models first came to Creator Studio in January

Apple announced Creator Studio on Jan. 13, 2026, and the subscription arrived on the App Store on Jan. 28. It bundles Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor and MainStage, plus premium content and intelligent features for Keynote, Pages and Numbers. In that announcement, Apple said Keynote's image generation used **generative models from OpenAI**. Drafting a presentation from a text outline and generating presenter notes also arrived as beta features.

On Oct. 22, Macworld reported that release notes for a Pages update, briefly posted to the App Store and then pulled, mentioned a beta feature called "Intelligent Assistant." The same article called Creator Studio's AI features up to then "somewhat lackluster" next to the Gemini integration in Google Workspace.

### The update arrives free for subscribers in November

The updates arrive on the App Store in November as a free update for existing subscribers; Apple did not give an exact date. New subscribers pay **$12.99 a month or $129 a year**, with a one-month free trial. College students and educators pay $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year. Buyers of a new Mac or qualifying iPad can get three months free.

Free versions of Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform remain available and come with every new iPhone, Mac and iPad. Apple says the new intelligence features, including the assistant, are for subscribers.
